*Updated January TBR*

Hello! Soooo, I had all these plans for a January TBR and everything but I ended up completely changing it. Not only that, but I've also decided on a bunch of the books I'd like to read for the first half of the year, so expect a post on that sometime soon. Anyway, I am still reading Tower of Dawn, but other than that my TBR has changed. Here are the new books I plan to read this January:

Book #2: The Language of Thorns

So, first up (after Tower of Dawn) is The Language of Thorns. I got this for Christmas and am so excited to see what new stories Leigh Bardugo has in store for me. Anything she writes is amazing, so I just know I'll love this!

Book #3: Daughter of the Pirate King

Not only am I excited for this because it seems right up my ally, what with it's incredibly powerful female lead with a take-no-prisoners attitude, but the sequel is coming out soon, too! I'm looking forward to this as well.

January 2018 TBR

Hello again! I've decided to come back today with my January 2018 TBR. This month I have 3 books on my list, which is less than I usually read (which I'll explain), but fits perfectly with my reading goal for this year. On top of these three books, I'm also reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis for school (which if I'm being honest I'm incredibly disappointed in and wish we'd picked up a classic instead. If you would like my point of view on classics, let me know!).

#1. Tower of Dawn

So, this big book (664 pages) is the reason my goal is only 3 and not four. While I adore Sarah J. Maas and her books, I find that they take me a really long time to read and can be quite tiresome, so I like to give myself all the time I need for her books. Speaking of taking quite a long time to read, if you'd like me to discuss being a slow reader and my struggles with reading, I can also do that. Annnnyway, I'm actually currently on like page 100, and it's had a slightly slow start but I can feel it picking up. I'm excited/nervous for this book!

2018 Reading Goals

Hey guys! It is officially 2018, and I'm very excited to announce that I'm here to attempt blogging! I've always loved reading, but recently I've wanted to share my bookish life more than ever, and I figured a blog was the best place to do just that. Whether or not you're an avid reader, I hope that this blog can be a fun place for you to share your love of books and whatever else makes you happy. I will say that I'm not sure how long I'll keep this specific blog, as Blogger is a tedious program that's hard to work with. If this becomes an important part of my life and I keep up with posts, I may end up creating a different blog elsewhere using a more user-friendly program that will allow me to do all that I would like with this blog.
Anyway, I've decided to start by going through some of my 2018 reading goals! I don't have too many, and if I'm being completely honest I'm probably not going to keep most of these, but shhhh. We don't have to worry about that now. Resolutions were made to be broken, right?

Goodreads Goal

This year, I've decided to set my Goodreads goal to 36 books, which is 3 books a month. So, last year I set my Goodreads goal to 50, which I ended up surpassing by 5 books. (WOOP WOOP!) This year, however, I'm going to set my goal lower than that. I know I could reach 50 and it wouldn't be too much of a problem for me, but I'm the type of person that stresses easily. Sooo, when I saw that I was on track or only one book ahead, I'd panic about how I'm almost behind schedule. I'd prefer knowing that I'm ahead of schedule and can always raise my goal, rather than being stressed about something that brings me joy.

Genre-Based Reading

Last year I read much more YA Contemporary, which is a genre I don't usually enjoy that much, than I usually do. While I do want to continue reading contemporary books, this year I'd like to make sure that I primarily read YA Fantasy.
